Raising the profile of digital inclusion

GMPCB highlights the importance of digital inclusion for patients and practitioners.

Digital lead, Dr Chris Nortcliff, has been sharing the importance of digital inclusion among patients and practitioners across Greater Manchester on several specialist platforms.

Over the past few weeks, he has spoken as part of a live online panel discussion for Health Tech News, attended HETT North to take part in a panel discussion, as well as speaking at Stockport’s Digifest event.

Chris is an experienced GP with an interest in digital healthcare. He is the GP digital lead for GMPCB and the clinical lead for Digital First Primary Care in Greater Manchester.

The first panel discussion, ‘Driving patient outcomes through health tech’, was chaired by HTN editor Jon Wilson and co-panelists were Lyndsey Reeves, Director of Operations at Livi UK, and Dr Penny Kechagiolou, CCIO and Deputy Medical Director at University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire.

The following day, Chris attended the HETT North 2024 exhibition, organised by Healthcare Excellence Through Technology (HETT), at Manchester Central Convention Complex.

As part of the panel discussion ‘Rediscovering the patient journey: Bridging the gap across the health and care ecosystem’, Chris talked about the work of digital facilitators across GM and their work to encourage the use of digital tools that save time for practices and patients.

He said: “The onus is on providers to promote digital inclusion and encourage patients to actively take part in their own care.”

Finally, he covered the topic of ‘The impact of digital on health’ at the Stockport digital inclusion seminar along with key people from health and local government. A reminder that Chris has also written a blog on the digital transformation of primary care in GM.
