Primary care was declared as OPEL 4 for the last week (2-8 January) as it has been very pressured. The Greater Manchester system as a whole was also declared as OPEL 4.
To ease pressures, in partnership with the Greater Manchester primary care team, we commissioned surge hubs to offer 2,000 extra appointments this week. General practice providers have at short notice provided surge hubs for OPEL 4 escalation.
