Who we are

There are around 1,800 member primary care providers across Greater Manchester, with a workforce of around 22,000. The Primary Care Provider Board provides its members with a strong, unified voice.

Our members include 658 community pharmacy, 382 dentistry, 416 GP and 303 optometry providers (as of September 2022, and subject to change).

The board is made up a chair, chief officer, chairs of the four primary care sub-boards, managing director and additional representatives from each of the four primary care disciplines – community pharmacy, dentistry, general practice and optometry.

A Delivery Team manages our programmes of work. The team brings together programme management, quality improvement, change management, clinical and professional leadership and expertise into a single function.

The team works with, and forms strong relationships with key system improvement partners including Health Innovation Manchester, Strategic Clinical Networks and the Clinical Research Network and Aqua, as well as thought leaders in the area of primary care development, including the NHS Confederation and the Royal College of GPs. Through these networks and the connections formed by the PCB, the delivery team has a strong reach across primary care and can respond to current thinking and be relevant to primary care today.
