Following on from their last podcast covering how general practice can support international medical graduates (IMGs), doctors Lisa and Sara speak to Dr Sylvia Kama-Kieghe, chair of the Royal College of General Practice (RCGP) North of England IMG group. Dr Kama-Kieghe is a practicing GP based in Sheffield who also has an interest in women’s health.
The podcast covers what the IMG group does and why it was set up. They discuss issues that IMGs might face when working and training in the UK, and consider what practices can do to make IMGs feel welcome and supported to ensure a positive experience for everyone involved.
The podcast is a useful listen for those new to practice in the UK, as well as educational or clinical GP supervisors and anyone working in primary care.
