A new series of general practice webinars have been released by the GP Excellence programme.
The PCB’s GP Excellence programme has released its latest series of general practice webinars.
Delivered in partnership with experienced trainer Luan Stewart, the webinars will run on various dates in March and April and will cover the following topics: new to practice management, appraisals and new contracts.

New to practice management
This two-and-a-half-hour session will take you through the areas of work that you need to understand and help you through the ‘don’t know what you don’t know’ scenarios.
This session is suitable for anyone with around eighteen months of practice or PCN management experience, or for assistant and operations managers planning to step into a management role.
Please note, participants must have a camera and microphone available to participate in the session.
Appraisals
This one-hour session will support you to:
- achieve quality appraisals for your staff
- work out a pattern for when a longer in-depth appraisal is required, or when it is acceptable to organise a shorter appraisal depending on the needs and desires of the team member
- how to work with the information you have received in an appraisal to improve workplace planning for your team
This session is suitable for anyone in a leadership position who completes appraisals.
New contracts
This one-and-a-half-hour session will provide you with the time and insights needed to navigate the new 2025/26 contract changes, along with the updated Quality and Outcomes Framework (QOF) and PCN Network Contract Directed Enhanced Service (DES) changes.
The webinar will include useful templates to aid action planning changes for your surgery, and to make sure that you are aware of all areas of the new contracts to plan and prepare.
This session is suitable for practice managers, business managers, finance managers, PCN managers and assistant managers.
Luan is an experienced trainer and a practice manager with 15 years’ experience in general practice and Primary Care Network (PCN) management.
She has delivered several general practice webinars in partnership with the GP Excellence programme covering topics such as year-end planning, finance quick wins and QOF prevalence.
