The leadership role

The health and wellbeing of our workforce is one of the most important things we need to focus on. Primary care leadership has a duty of care to ensure the physical and mental wellbeing of our employees; a point highlighted during the difficult times we experienced through the pandemic and the social circumstances we now find ourselves in.

Our primary care workforce programmes provide a bridge between preventative support, early identification and intervention and specialist support to ensure our primary care workforce feel safe, cared for and listened to.

The NHS People Plan recognises compassion as a national priority. Research has shown a compelling link between compassion in leadership and staff wellbeing, team performance, and better outcomes for patients and service users.

We are launching a number of new programmes to nurture a culture of wellbeing in which our workforce feels supported when at work, and will continue to update this site with new resources.
