World Menopause Day wellbeing workshops and events

Summary

Free wellbeing workshops and events to mark World Menopause Day and raise awareness.

World Menopause Day is held each year on 18 October.

The purpose of the day is to raise awareness of the menopause and the support options available to improve health and wellbeing for those going through the menopause.

In support of the day, NHS Greater Manchester is running a number of free online wellbeing sessions for health and care staff.

The Whitworth Art Gallery is also running a number of face-face-workshops for members of the public.

An introduction to perimenopause and menopause

In partnership with NHS Stockport NHS Foundation Trust.

An introductory session to the perimenopause and menopause journey, what you need to look out for, and what you may want to pay attention to.

2.30pm to 3.30pm, Friday 18 October, 2024, via MS Teams

GM menopause cafe

Join a virtual cafe to share your menopause experiences and listen to other experiences with curiosity and support.

This peer session is for anyone experiencing the impacts of menopause, including all ages and genders.

Menopause and mental health

In partnership with Manchester Mind.

Menopause doesn’t just impact our bodies – our mental health can often take a hit at this time of life too. Mood swings, sleep disturbances, higher than normal levels of anxiety or constant low mood are some of the more common mental health symptoms impacting on our ability to cope day-to-day.

This workshop will focus on why stress is harder to manage at this time of life and outline why mindfulness and relaxation techniques might help.

World Menopause Day 2024 – Create and Debate*

This event is for those with lived experience of perimenopause, menopause or post menopause, to get together and spend a couple of hours after work to be creative and get expert information from professionals in the field of creativity and menopause.

The aim of the event is to explore creative ways to navigate menopause and spark debate.

5pm to 7pm, Thursday 17 October, 2024, at the Whitworth Art Gallery, Oxford Road, Manchester M15 6ER.

*Please note, there is a £5 charge to attend this event.

Creative Menopause

At this free event you will find out about menopause and the role of creativity in the journey.

There will be information from a range of groups and experts who can answer your queries.

There will also be creative workshops, and activities for women experiencing all stages of menopause, including pre and post. Connect with like-minded individuals, share stories and discover creative ways to navigate this stage of life.

Meditation in Nature

Meditation in Nature is an opportunity for you to switch-off and experience a deep sense of calm whilst enjoying the beauty of the grounds at The Whitworth Art Gallery.

At this free event you will explore ways to ease menopause symptoms through nature connection activities and mindfulness.
