Optometrists invited to learn more about their wellbeing at work

Summary

Short webinar will explore how they can look after themselves and their teams.

Optometry providers are encouraged to prioritise their health and wellbeing in 2026, with the help of a short training session.

Greater Manchester Primary Care Provider Board (PCB) has developed a one-hour webinar in conjunction with Greater Manchester Optometry Provider Board (OPB), as an introduction to ‘being well in the workplace’.

Data from the General Optical Council (GOC) reveals that the optometry workforce is facing significant challenges when it comes to workplace satisfaction and wellbeing.

The 2024 GOC Registrant Workforce and Perceptions Survey, for optometrists and dispensing opticians, found a noticeable increase in the proportion of respondents who were dissatisfied with their role compared to the previous year.

The tailored webinar ‘Looking after ourselves and our teams’ will explore what wellbeing is and how optometrists can manage wellbeing at work.

Participants can choose either an afternoon or evening session (each session covers the same content). Select one of the following to register:

Each session will cover the IGLOO occupational health framework, compassion and restorative self-care, understanding stress, and effective teamwork for wellbeing. IGLOO stands for Individual, Group, Leader, Organisation, and the Outside Context, which are factors that influence health and work outcomes.

All participants will also have access to resources, including the Greater Manchester Wellbeing Toolkit and Looking After Your Teams Wellbeing Guide.
