A new webinar will help dental practice owners, managers and other dental professionals prepare for the new dental contract in 2026/27.
The Effective Clinical Appraisals and Personal Development Plans (PDPs) in Dental Practices workshop will help practices strengthen their appraisal processes and support staff development.
The webinar, on Thursday, 7 May, is being delivered by Greater Manchester Dental Provider Board (DPB) and facilitated by the Practice Managers Association (PMA).

The session is divided into two sections, with a break for lunch, and will equip you with the skills and knowledge to conduct effective appraisals, to support you in meeting new contractual requirements from April 2026.
Session one, from 10am to 12pm, will include:
- What effective clinical appraisal looks like in dental practice
- The purpose, structure, and expectations of a ‘good’ appraisal
- Benefits for practices, teams, and patients
- Recognising and overcoming common obstacles (engagement, motivation, conflict)
Session two, from 12.30pm to 2.30pm, will include:
- Core skills for delivering constructive appraisal and PDP conversations
- Using coaching approaches and 360-degree feedback
- Giving and receiving feedback effectively
- Writing SMART goals and building PDPs
- Implementation planning, timelines, and leadership behaviours
Participants will receive practical templates, scripts and strategies that can be immediately applied within their practice.
