GM Health and Care Champion Awards winners announced

Summary

Winners of the Greater Manchester Health and Care Champion Awards 2024 were announced at a ceremony on Thursday 11 July.

Finalists for the awards attended a ceremony at the Science and Industry Museum, hosted by ex-Blue Peter presenter Mwaksy.

More than 500 people were nominated for 13 categories including Community Champion, Leadership Champion, Volunteer Champion and a new Team of The Year category.

Organised by NHS Greater Manchester, the Greater Manchester Health and Care Champion Awards are the only GM-wide awards which recognise the contributions of the whole health and care workforce.

This year’s awards saw several individuals and organisations from primary care making the final shortlist with some winning awards on the night, including Dr Vikas Gupta, PCN Clinical Director at Denton, Audenshaw and Droylsden PCN scooping Leadership Champion and Salford Primary Care Together Inclusion Service winning Team of the Year.

Matthew Coles, Nurse Associate at Tower Family Healthcare, was also presented with the Mayor’s Special Recognition Award which is chosen by Mayor Andy Burnham and celebrates a unique contribution to health and care.

Sir Richard Leese, Chair of NHS Greater Manchester, said: “It is an honour to be part of the Greater Manchester Health and Care Champion Awards for their fifth year. It’s a great opportunity to hear of the amazing work that all the shortlisted finalists do across our health and care system every day.”
