Health professionals invited to take part in engagement exercise

Summary

Complete the survey about structured diabetes education to help improve services.

Health professionals in primary care are invited to take part in a public engagement exercise about Structured Diabetes Education.

The engagement exercise was launched on 6 January by NHS Greater Manchester (NHS GM) and runs until 2 March.

They want to hear from people with type 2 diabetes on how they would like to get information and support to help manage their condition, but also from clinicians to identify what currently works and how the service could be improved.

Typically, this may be practice nurses, Health Care Assistants (HCAs), Diabetic Specialist Nurses (DSNs) and clinical pharmacists but the survey is open to anyone working with patients in this area.

Structured diabetes education (SDE) is a short course of face-to-face or online sessions offered to those newly diagnosed with type 2 diabetes to learn more about managing their condition.

Group education is the preferred delivery method as people often learn better in face-to-face interactive group sessions. However, online or digital programmes are also available for those who prefer to learn online or on their phone.
