Increase clinical research in deprived areas

Summary

Practices in the most deprived areas of GM are invited to get involved in a new network to help improve health inequalities.

GP practice teams serving the most challenging and deprived areas of Greater Manchester are invited to get involved with the Greater Manchester Inclusive Research Network (GM IRN).

The network is suitable for practices serving the most deprived areas, according to the deprivation index, deciles 1-4. They should also be ‘research-active’, or considering becoming active.

An online launch event for GM IRN on 18 September is already oversubscribed, but practices can email gmicb-mh.mimpresearch@nhs.net to be added to the waiting list. The network is also planning an in-person event in November.

The benefits of joining the network include the chance to:

  • Improve health outcomes and reduce health inequalities for your patients
  • Work with researchers to co-develop useful, relevant studies that will make a positive impact in your day to day practice
  • Get funded fairly for your time and contribution
  • Help shape policy to ensure that practices like yours can contribute to research to drive innovation in healthcare in a positive and sustainable way

The GM IRN is a collaboration led by Manchester Integrative Medical Practice in partnership with the NIHR School for Primary Care Research at the University of Manchester and supported by the NIHR North West Regional Research Delivery Network (RRDN).
