Join the culture movement around being well in the workplace

Summary

Primary care providers are encouraged to prevent poor health and improve patient care by completing a unique training programme.

A unique opportunity is being offered to primary care providers in Greater Manchester to change the culture of ‘being well’ in the workplace.

Greater Manchester Primary Care Provider Board (GMPCB) will relaunch its free training programme in September: Being Well: Leadership Development Training Programme.

Greater Manchester is one of the first integrated care systems to deliver a wellbeing leadership training programme that responds to workforce pressures and is available to all primary care disciplines.

The programme aims to cultivate a culture of compassion among the workforce, which will ultimately have a ripple effect and shift people’s views on ‘wellbeing’.

Research shows that a healthy, engaged and supported workforce performs better and more efficiently. It also helps businesses to build resilience and sustainability – vital for the successful future of primary care.

The programme aims to show that wellbeing is a ‘must’ rather than a ‘nice to have’, and investing the time to improve staff wellbeing is a form of prevention. Putting people first reduces sickness absence and burnout, improves retention and enhances patient care.

Several sessions of the primary care wellbeing programme have been delivered throughout 2025, and members of the GMPCB delivery team have also completed the training.

After a redesign, we have released fresh dates for the autumn which include two 90-minute sessions via MS Teams. Participants are required to attend both sessions to complete the course.

It is aimed at leaders, aspiring leaders and those with a responsibility for wellbeing in the workplace.

Please select one date from each session to complete the course:

Session 1:

Session 2:

By completing the course, you will benefit from:

  • Increased knowledge, skills and confidence: using leadership behaviours and practical tools in supporting workforce wellbeing
  • Culture change movement: enables primary care to be part of a cultural shift where wellbeing is not seen as a cost but a strategic investment
  • Leadership development: empowers primary care leaders to use practical skills to deliver objectives of the NHS 10 Year Plan
  • Resource sharing: giving access to tools and resources reflecting the real needs of the primary care workforce
