Kickstart your journey to deliver the Blueprint at the GM Primary Care Summit 2024

Summary

Places are filling up fast for the Greater Manchester Primary Care Summit 2024 on Thursday 21 March.

Jointly hosted by Greater Manchester Primary Care Provider Board (PCB) and NHS Greater Manchester (NHS GM), the event will take place at the Village Hotel Ashton.

More details have been released about how primary care providers can kickstart their journey to deliver the Greater Manchester Primary Care Blueprint.

The Greater Manchester Primary Summit 2024 will take place on Thursday 21 March and will showcase a range of ideas, support and tools to help providers survive and thrive in primary care.

The event is open to primary care providers across all four disciplines, along with wider health and care partners with a key role in helping to deliver the Greater Manchester Primary Care Blueprint – the five-year plan for primary care.

Since the official launch of the Blueprint in October 2023 a dedicated team, known as the Blueprint Delivery Unit, has been established to focus on the priorities identified in the plan.

The summit will provide an opportunity for people to meet the delivery team and hear from key leaders from the PCB and NHS GM.

Attendees can visit more than 20 exhibition stands with ideas, support and tools from providers and partners, covering the key themes outlined in the blueprint, including digital, access, workforce and estates.

There will be a chance to network with colleagues from community pharmacy, dentistry, general practice and optometry, plus the VCSE sector, including representatives from GP Excellence, Primary Eye Care Services, Community Pharmacy, Dental Referral Services, NIHR Clinical Research Network, and community diagnostics.

People can also take part in a one-hour break-out session, which will delve deeper into the support available to help develop skills for the future.

Attendees can choose one from the following:

  • Responding well to conflict – a taster of the upcoming training for frontline staff delivered by Dr Joanna Bircher and Lorna Laflin from the PCB GP Excellence programme team
  • Creating better partnerships in primary care – delivered by the Alternative Provider Collaborative (APC)
  • What is the purpose of primary care? – delivered by Lynn Marsland and Dr Chris Nortcliff, GMPCB
  • Developing leadership – a blueprint for leadership in primary care – delivered by Manisha Kumar, NHS GM Chief Medical Officer, Dr Claire Lake, NHS GM Deputy Chief Medical Officer and Luvjit Kandula, GMPCB Chair
