Summary
Each locality will have a peer ambassador working with general practice to support them through changes to primary care.
A team of peer ambassadors has been recruited to support practices through the transformation of primary care.
Each locality in Greater Manchester will have its own peer ambassador, responsible for leading Quality Improvement, providing peer support, and encouraging collaboration across general practice as they embed the Modern General Practice (MGP) model.
The scheme is being run by Greater Manchester Primary Care Provider Board (PCB), in partnership with NHS GM, and is an extension of a national NHSE programme launched last year.
The new GM network of peer ambassadors is made up of GPs who understand primary care transformation within either a GP practice or Primary Care Network (PCN) setting, plus experience of implementing digital transformation and the use of digital tools as part of their work.
Their role will involve engaging with other GPs, practice managers, and existing networks to share expertise and best practice, as well as advocating the use of Quality Improvement tools, methods and measurement.
They will work directly with practices to coach and support them in the acceleration of MGP and help develop integrated neighbourhood working in localities.
Each locality has been involved in the recruitment of the peer ambassadors, to ensure the best fit for the role.
Once all peer ambassadors are in post, we will share more details of how each locality can work with them.
