PCB backs Greater Manchester award for collaboration

Summary

Chance to shine a spotlight on collaboration work in the health and care system.

Greater Manchester Primary Care Provider Board (PCB) is proudly sponsoring a category in the Greater Manchester Health and Care Champion Awards 2025.

The Collaboration Award is one of 14 categories and recognises the achievements of health and care teams when they come together to make a powerful impact through their work.

The PCB is a prime example of how collaboration in the health and care system can make a difference.

Established in 2015, the PCB brings together the four primary care disciplines of community pharmacy, dentistry, general practice and optometry, and gives them a single voice in the health and care system.

By working collaboratively and in partnership at neighbourhood, place and system level the PCB aims to improve health and wellbeing throughout our communities.

Dr Tracey Vell MBE, Chief Officer of Greater Manchester Primary Care Board, said: “We are proud to be the first and most mature primary care collaborative in the country. As well as supporting some 1,800 primary care provider organisations and their workforce with training and development opportunities, we represent the sector in the wider health and care system.

“It’s our pleasure to raise the profile of our primary care providers by sponsoring a category in the Greater Manchester Health and Care Champion Awards. I would urge our primary care colleagues – and others – to put forward their entries and celebrate their hard work.”

Luvjit Kandula, Chair of Greater Manchester Primary Care Provider Board, added: “We engage, co-produce and collectively deliver programmes that aim to improve patient care while looking after those who deliver the care. Collaboration is intrinsic to our vision and purpose, so we are honoured to sponsor this year’s Collaboration Award.

“There is some exceptional collaboration work being undertaken in primary care and the wider health and care system, and this is a chance to shine a spotlight on how working together can achieve great things.”

The Greater Manchester Health and Care Champion Awards are in their sixth year and are the only GM-wide awards for our whole health and care workforce.

Organised by NHS Greater Manchester, with support from Andy Burnham, the Mayor of Greater Manchester, other categories include Community Champion, Volunteer of the Year and Lifetime Achievement, along with Green Initiative of the Year, a new category for 2025.

The awards are open to all individuals or teams, paid or unpaid, who work in the health or care sector in Greater Manchester or through broader work to help improve the health and wellbeing of others.

You can nominate online or by completing and posting an entry form. The deadline for all entries is Tuesday, March 11.
