Realising the potential of primary care provider collaboratives

Summary

PCB leaders share their journey so far with other primary care colleagues as part of a national webinar.

Greater Manchester Primary Care Provider Board (PCB) joined NHS Confederation for the first in a series of webinars about the future role of primary care in neighbourhood health services.

The ‘Realising the potential of primary care provider collaboratives’ series follows the NHS Confed report of the same name, published in 2024 and aims to provide guidance and practical tips for primary care leaders on developing collaboratives in their place-based areas.

The first webinar was held on June 5 and featured Luvjit Kandula, chair of the PCB and the Greater Manchester Community Pharmacy Provider Board, and Dharmesh Patel, chair of the Greater Manchester Optometry Provider Board.

Luvjit is also the Director of Strategy and Transformation at Community Pharmacy Greater Manchester (CPGM) while Dharmesh is Chief Executive Officer of Primary Eyecare Services (PES).

They were joined on the webinar by Michael Smith, Chief Executive of Bolton GP Federation and Ruth Rankine, Director of the Primary Care Network at NHS Confederation.

The PCB had the opportunity to provide an overview of its vision, purpose and infrastructure, key achievements and learning from the journey so far.

They also answered questions on how to collaborate, build trust, finances and governance.
