Summary
Funding available to upskill pharmacy staff working in NHS organisations.
The North West School of Pharmacy and Medicines Optimisation is inviting applications for skills investment funding for 2026/27.
The funding is available to support post-registration education and training to upskill pharmacy staff who work in NHS organisations, or organisations providing NHS services across the north west of England.
Funding to support one year of study only is available for the period 1 April 2026 to 31 March 2027.
The funds can be used for any course that supports the development of clinical or technical knowledge and skills, where other funding is unavailable.
Priority areas for funding are:
- Clinical knowledge and skills development, including specialist and mental health practice, aligned to service delivery
- Pharmacy technical and quality assurance
Applications should be submitted by a manager or education lead on behalf of an individual. Organisations should submit one application per organisation, providing the names of the intended learners.
Organisations that are accepted for funding will be required to provide proof of enrolment for each learner, evidence of ongoing monitoring and impact of the funding.
Pharmacies interested in applying for funding must complete an Expression of Interest form by 10am on Monday 22 June.
Further information, including principles for funding and frequently asked questions, can be found in this letter from Mike Hodgins, Head of post-registration at the North West School of Pharmacy and Medicines Optimisation.
