Updates on two research studies

Summary

Find out about continuity of care and the hidden workload of general practice.

Information about two completed research studies is now available to view.

The National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) North West Regional Research Delivery Network (NW RRDN) supported a study by the University of Manchester on continuity of care in general practice.

A number of practices in the north west region supported the study by displaying promotional materials that recruited people to focus groups to discuss this topic.

The study asked patients, doctors and other NHS staff to share their views about the ongoing relationship between a GP and patient, and a summary of its findings is available to read.

Another study supported by NW RRDN – the Hidden Workload Study – is currently in the analysis and reporting phase after almost 800 clinicians from all over the country signed up for the project.

The study team’s first impact report has recently been published by ‘Primary care Academic CollaboraTive’ (PACT).

More information about clinical research and the work of NIHR NW RRDN can be found on the PCB website.
