A series of workshops will be held to support dental practice managers

Summary

The six lunch and learn sessions will cover operational, leadership and compliance challenges.

Dental practice managers can sign up for a series of six workshops this May and June.

The lunch-and-learn-style webinars will provide candidates with knowledge and practical tips, and equip them with plans to take away and implement in the workplace.

If you are a dental practice manager, in post for less than three years, or an assistant manager or lead nurse who aspires to progress, then the lunch and learn series could help you and your team to develop.

The course may also be suitable for long-standing practice managers seeking more clarity and confidence in their role due to having been on long-term sick leave or maternity leave.

Places are limited to 20 participants, so please register your interest using this form before Thursday, 2 April.

Participants will be expected to attend all six sessions via MS Teams, which cover the following topics:

  • Session 1, Tuesday 5 May: Operational Efficiency & Time Management
Explore effective time management, streamline operations, delegation and balancing responsibilities.
Session 2, Tuesday 12 May: Leadership & Team Cohesion
Understanding each other/individual differences – Focusing on current challenges by building empathy & increasing resilience
  • Session 3, Tuesday 19 May: The Patient Journey & the Changing Patient
In a fast-paced world where expectations are changing, how do we move with the public and their expectations/standards? Including complaints handling.
  • Session 4, Tuesday 2 June: Everything HR
Onboarding, induction, PDP, sickness, handbooks & staff files.

A whistlestop tour of how to stay on top of HR and deal with staff issues.

  • Session 5, Tuesday 9 June: Compliance

  • Session 6, Tuesday 16 June: GDPR
Overview of data security compliance – with a practical focus on in-house hints and tips rather than just learning regulations

Each session is from 12pm to 2pm and includes time for interactive planning. If you can, please come prepared with questions, experiences and challenges relating to each topic.

This series has been funded by Greater Manchester Dental Provider Board (DPB) as part of its Dental Excellence Programme.

The DPB is partnering with facilitator, Berni Wilkinson, who has over 25 years’ experience in dentistry, most of which was within a senior role.

Her latest role is working independently as a Dental Practice Management and Compliance coach, supporting new and aspiring practice managers to gain the knowledge, skills and leadership required to ensure smooth daily operations and maintenance of regulatory compliance within practice.
