Around 130 colleagues attended to learn and share ideas about access, demand and the BeCCoR.
A masterclass event aimed at supporting general practice through access and demand issues, plus the Beyond Core Contract (BeCCoR) for 2026/27, attracted around 130 people.
It was one of the hottest days of the year, however colleagues were keen to learn from their peers and share their own experiences of how they’re delivering the Modern General Practice (MGP) model.
The event, on Thursday 25 June, was hosted by the Greater Manchester Primary Care Provider Board’s (GMPCB) GP Excellence Programme and facilitated by its Peer Ambassadors.
Held at the Albert Halls, in Bolton the day was divided into two masterclasses: ‘The Heart of General Practice – Balancing Demand, Care and Continuity’ and ‘Turning Targets into Action – BeCCoR Unpacked’.
The agenda also allowed for several break-out sessions so colleagues could discuss ideas and challenges in more detail.
Aimed at practice managers, primary care network managers and GPs, participants learned about access models in different localities, how to understand their practice data and how to benefit from delegating tasks within their wider teams.
They were also provided with resources so they could apply some of the methods discussed on the day.
The session on understanding and navigating BeCCoR was particularly popular, as attendees learned how the enhanced targets will influence delivery of care, and left with realistic strategies to maximise quality and outcomes.
As well as the Peer Ambassadors – who were recruited to support practices through the Modern General Practice transformation – the event was facilitated by Dr Joanna Bircher, Clinical Director of the GP Excellence Programme, and Dr Viren Mehta, Vice Chair of Greater Manchester General Practice Provider Board (GPB) and GP Chief Officer for Viaduct Care CIC.
