New 2025 digital workshops available for practices

Summary

The latest digital workshops from the Digital First Primary Care Programme are available to book from January to March.

The Digital First Primary Care programme, in partnership with Redmoor Health, is continuing to support practices with their digital transformation journey with a new series of online workshops for 2025.

The one-hour workshops will focus on smarter messaging, exploring the NHS App, Robotic Process Automation (RPA), optimising telephony and patient-led ordering.

There will also be a ‘series review’ workshop with a round-up of previous topics covered during 2024. This session is a useful recap for those who attended the workshops in 2024, as well as a helpful summary for anyone who missed the sessions.

The webinars are suitable for digital leads and any practice or PCN staff keen to get involved in the digital transformation journey.

Further details and the booking links for each workshop can be found below.

Driving positive change: a series review of 2024 digital workshops

This workshop will provide a recap of topics covered during the 2024 series of digital workshops, including:

  • A review and highlights of the NHS App
  • Messaging
  • Telephony
  • Appointment systems
  • Websites
  • Care navigation
  • Digital Inclusion

It will also outline how data can be analysed to track and demonstrate improvements and used as an effective planning tool, utilising the NHS dashboard, telephony data, online consultation statistics, appointment booking audits, GP surveys and Friends and Family Test (FFT) results.

Exploring the NHS App

This workshop will provide an overview of how the NHS App fits with national and local priorities, what local data shows us, the App’s benefits and functionality, and how this supports the patient journey.

A Digital Facilitator will also join the workshop to talk about the NHS App toolkit.

Robotic Process Automation in general practice: opportunities and considerations

This workshop will explore how Robotic Process Automation (RPA) can support general practice when thoughtfully implemented. While not a universal solution, RPA has shown promise in specific administrative areas through:

  • selective automation of repetitive tasks, where clear processes and decision points can be mapped and validated
  • targeted workflow improvements in areas with standardised procedures, while maintaining human oversight
  • reducing administrative load for well-defined, rules-based processes
  • creating focused time savings that can be redirected to patient care

The session will examine critical implementation factors including:

  • cybersecurity requirements
  • risk assessment frameworks
  • process evaluation criteria
  • maintaining patient trust

Understanding both the capabilities and limitations of RPA is essential. The session will cover where automation can genuinely add value and where human judgment remains irreplaceable. Learn how to assess if, and where, RPA might benefit your practice, while maintaining security and patient care standards.

Optimising telephony

This workshop will provide an overview of how practices and PCNs can use their telephony system to understand their demand better. It will also cover possible actions for managing demand, including telephony system functions and understanding telephone data.

Oldham’s Digital Facilitator, Matthew Sisson, will also join the workshop to deliver a session on the Telephony Optimisation Toolkit, covering IVR and reporting.

Smarter messaging

This workshop will provide deep dive into how practices can get the best from their messaging systems. During the session good practice, hints and tips and functionalities of systems will be shared.

A Digital Facilitator will also join the workshop to deliver a session on the Smarter Sending Toolkit covering:

  • costs
  • messaging checklist, necessity, modality, type, content and coding
  • population cohorting
  • maximising system functionality

12.30pm to 1.30pm, Wednesday 12 March 2025

Empowering Patients Through Patient Led Ordering

This workshop will explore the shift towards patient-led ordering and its transformative impact on repeat medication processes. It will delve into the benefits of empowering patients to take control of their repeat prescriptions, reducing reliance on pharmacies for ordering.

The workshop will also cover key topics, including tackling medication stockpiling and waste, saving valuable time for practice staff, and enhancing patient convenience through tools like the NHS App. Learn how the NHS App enables seamless ordering and prescription tracking, creating a transparent and efficient system for both patients and practices.

Join Redmoor Health to uncover how this approach supports sustainability, improves resource management and enhances patient engagement in their healthcare journey.
