Two new lunchtime webinars by the Health Innovation Network are available in May.

The Health Innovation Network is running two new lunchtime webinars for GPs, pharmacists, nurse prescribers and other health professionals who may be interested.

The webinars are available to book as part of their Polypharmacy Masterclass Series, and will take place in May.

Find out why you need to be more careful prescribing for older people and understand more about the drug metabolism in older people, and some of the common safety issues:

Polypharmacy: Prescribing Safely in Older People Lunchtime Masterclass (weahsn.net) – Monday, 13 May from 12 noon until 1.30pm

The session will include therapeutics, evidence-based summary and a patient case study for discussion and learning, followed by a Q&A session.

The guest speaker is Dr Lauren Walker, Senior Clinical Lecturer in Clinical Pharmacology & Therapeutics and Internal Medicine, University of Liverpool.

In the second webinar, you will join Dr Mark Horowitz, author of The Maudsley Deprescribing Guidelines, clinical research fellow and training psychiatrist, on the topic of stopping antidepressants safely and managing withdrawal symptoms:

Polypharmacy: Stopping Antidepressants Safely Lunchtime Masterclass (weahsn.net) – Tuesday, 21 May from 12 noon until 2pm

This is an essential masterclass for clinicians who prescribe these medicines. The session will include a summary of the evidence base and patient case study for discussion and learning, followed by a Q&A session.
