Primary care voice at system level

We are delighted to have secured four seats on the Greater Manchester Integrated Care Partnership board.

This means all four primary care disciplines of community pharmacy, general practice, optometry and dentistry will be represented at the highest level within the Greater Manchester health and care system and will be contributing to Greater Manchester strategy.

Our representatives are the chairs of the four primary care provider boards – Tracey Vell (general practice), Dharmesh Patel (optometry), Luvjit Kandula (community pharmacy) and Don McGrath (dentistry). Greater Manchester Primary Care Provider Board’s Managing Director, Janet Castrogiovanni, will also be in attendance.

Dharmesh Patel, Chair of Greater Manchester Primary Care Provider Board, said: “Securing these places at the Integrated Care Partnership board table is recognition that primary care must be considered alongside all other health and care sectors if we are going to make a collective difference to the lives of local people.

“As chairs, we represent the needs, concerns and views of our member practices and providers and will now have the opportunity to be heard and influence strategy which is informed by ground-level feedback.”

Chairs will keep providers up to date about discussions, decisions and developments through established communication channels.
