Programme aimed at reducing harm from opioids

Summary

Teams working on a whole system approach are invited to register for quality improvement programme.

A new quality improvement programme, as part of the Medicines Safety Improvement Programme (MedSIP), will take place between October 2024 and March 2025.

The Breakthrough Series Collaborative aims to support healthcare professionals in reducing harm from opioids in chronic non-cancer pain.

The programme will be delivered by Health Innovation Manchester (HInM) and NHS Greater Manchester, in conjunction with the Coaching Academy.

The deadline to register is Friday, 16 August and successful applicants will be invited to an in-person launch at HInM on Thursday, 10 October.

Workshops from October to March will be a mixture of in-person and virtual, covering a range of topics. You will receive personal coaching, tools and techniques, and learn about quality improvement methodology.

The Breakthrough Series Collaborative is aimed at teams and partners in general practice and community pharmacy working on a whole system approach to high-risk opioid prescribing.

You’ll be asked to identify a core team of three people who should all enrol and attend the programme together. Only the core team can attend the workshops, but the programme encourages a larger project team back at ‘base’.
