Understanding the barriers faced by general practice when supporting clinical research

Summary

You can help to overcome them by completing a short survey.

GP practices are invited to take part in a short survey to help understand why more aren’t involved in clinical research.

While all NHS hospitals support clinical research, the picture is different in primary care, even though it plays a vital role in improving patient outcomes and benefits health professionals.

A lecturer at the University of Salford is conducting research into the barriers that practices face when supporting clinical research as part of his PhD.

As part of his research, James Bond Simmons would like representatives from general practice to complete a survey, which should take no more than 10 minutes.

Your firsthand experience is crucial to helping identify barriers, resource gaps, and opportunities to improve practices’ ability to support research.

General practices play a vital role in advancing healthcare through research, yet practices face increasing staffing pressures and time constraints that impact their ability to support research.

By sharing your perspectives, you’ll contribute to a clearer picture of these challenges and how these can be overcome.

The survey is now open, until Thursday 23 May, 2025.
